Sports arm of ALK Capital invest in technology firm specializing in extended reality and immersive fan experiences
Velocity Sports Partners (VSP), the sports investment arm of ALK Capital and majority shareholders of Burnley FC, have today announced a minority investment in Rezzil, a sports technology firm focussing on extended reality (XR) for high performance training and immersive fan experiences.
The news comes a day after the Premier League also announced a four-year partnership and an equity stake with the virtual reality (VR) software developer, who they will be working with to develop a Premier League virtual reality game.
Expected to be launched later this year, the game will place users on the pitch and in the boots of their favourite Premier League players, offering fans a unique opportunity to recreate iconic Premier League goals and moments from within the perspective of virtual reality.
Rezzil software integrates directly with Premier League match data allowing clubs to adapt the software to re-create match scenarios and replay them through a VR headset. The software also has groundbreaking applications for broadcasters and the wider gaming market who can use the match data to bring viewers and gamers closer to the action on the pitch.
